Mom of “cement mixer” victim will not file charges

The mother of the 20-year-old college student who died in a freak accident involving a cement mixer truck on Tuesday has calmly accepted her daughter’s death and said she will not press charges against the driver.

In a Philippine Star report, Salvacion Inzon, 64, said she had forgiven the truck driver, Reynaldo Guarte.

She maintained Guarte did not mean to kill her daughter, Marie Cherrie. Inzon explained that the driver was neither drunk nor high on drugs when the incident occured at Araneta Avenue, Quezon City.

Police said if the family will not file charges against Guarte, he will walk out of jail a free man.
