After the brouhaha over her so-called Bureau of Customs (BOC) (non-)appointment, Mocha Uson has clarified that she never sought a government post.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Uson said Bureau of Customs chief Nicanor Faeldon asked only for her help “to disseminate information about the bureau and act as a bridge where ordinary citizens can send their complaints about corrupt Customs men.”

Uson said Faeldon brought it up when she met him to bring to his attention some complaints that she had gotten through her blog and social media accounts.

In any case, Uson declared, “Hindi naman kailangan ng posisyon or title para tumulong ka sa gobyerno o sa ating bansa. Dapat mag-volunteer ka, voluntary. Hindi mo kailangan ng posisyon.”

(“You don’t need a position or title to help the government or the country. You should just volunteer. It should be voluntary. You don’t need a position.”)

Uson likewise reiterated she will help the Customs bureau “without any official position or salary.” Moreover, she said she has no plans to join politics.
