MMDA’s Valentine’s Day gift: No road repairs on February 14

What a cheesy reason! (But, apparently, there’s another reason. So, read on.)

“The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has not approved permits for road repairs on Valentine’s Day to prevent traffic gridlock,” reports Perseus Echeminada in The Philippine Star.

During the MMDA’s weekly program on radio station dzBB, MMDA assistant general manager Emerson Carlos explained that “the road repairs were suspended due to the heavy volume of vehicles expected along major roads in Metro Manila for Valentine’s Day as well as an Iglesia ni Cristo gathering scheduled in Manila on the same day.”

Take note: There’s an Iglesia ni Cristo gathering scheduled in Manila on the same day.

In other words, expect to encounter extra-heavy traffic in that area.
