MMDA wants to hire 400 more traffic aides

With the so-called Traffic Armageddon looming, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is eyeing the hiring of an additional 400 traffic aides.

“The MMDA hopes that the additional traffic aides will help the agency to cope with the staggering expected traffic jams to be created by the construction of 15 major infrasructure projects across Metro Manila,” reports Mike Frialde on Philstar.com.

The MMDA currently has around 2,000 traffic enforcers.

Of the 15 major projects, construction has started on the Skyway 3 and NAIA Expressway Phase 2. The rest of the projects will soon follow within the year. The expected completion date is sometime in 2016.
