Several roads leading to Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila will be closed as early as 5 p.m. Tuesday in preparation for the country’s 115th Independence Day.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) also issued an advisory that public and private vehicles passing near Liwasang Bonifacio area will be rerouted on June 12.
*To be closed at 5 p.m., Tuesday:
– Postal Road/Muelle del Rio
– Magallanes Drive Extension from Jones Bridge to McArthur Bridge
*To be closed from 6 a.m. onwards on Wednesday, June 12:
– Dasmariñas/Plaza Sta. Cruz (southbound)
– Escolta/Plaza Sta. Cruz (southbound)
– McArthur Bridge (southbound)
– Jones Bridge (northbound)
Rizal Monument will also be closed from 6 a.m. onwards, as will the northbound and southbound lanes of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak to T.M. Kalaw Street.
Traffic rerouting
*Liwasang Bonifacio:
– Vehicles from Jones flyover intending to pass Magallanes Drive Extension shall go straight to Jones Bridge and Quintin Paredes Street to destination.
– Vehicles from Rizal Avenue intending to pass through the southbound lane of McArthur Bridge shall use Dasmariñas Street, left Juan Luna, left Plaza Cervantes, right Jones Bridge to destination.
– Provincial buses coming from Laguna/Cavite via Taft Avenue going to Lawton/Park N Ride shall turn right at U.N. Ave., right San Marcelino to destination.
*Rizal Monument:
– Vehicles coming from the northern part of Manila intending to pass through the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard shall turn left at P. Burgos, right Ma. Orosa, right T.M. Kalaw to destination.
– Vehicles coming from the southern part of Manila intending to pass through the northbound lane of Roxas Boulevard shall turn right at T.M. Kalaw, left Ma. Orosa, left P. Burgos to destination.
Parking areas
– VIPs may park inside the Post Office parking area, while participants may park in the area fronting Metropolitan Theater.
– Media may park vehicles at Mehan Garden, Magallanes Drive fronting National Press Club and Bureau of Immigration.
The MMDA also noted that the number coding system will be lifted on Wednesday, GMA News reported.
