MMDA traffic enforcer shot dead in QC

At about 3:20am on Mon, Jan 4, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcer Sydney Role was manning his post at the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Tandang Sora when he flagged down two men who were riding tandem on a motorcycle after it counter-flowed traffic.

“After being stopped by Role, one of the men then got off the motorcycle and shot Role twice in the head at close-range with a pistol of still unknown caliber. The two still-unidentified men sped off after seeing Role bloodied on the pavement,” reports Mike Frialde on Philstar.com.

Role was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.

MMDA Chair Emerson Carlos said, “This act of senseless violence shall not go unpunished especially done to a government servant who was just doing his job.”

The authorities are now looking for Role’s assailants.
