MMDA releases 2013 stats on fatal road accidents

These numbers are horrifying.

“According to figures released by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Saturday, October 18, there was at least one fatal road accident in Metro Manila per day in 2013,” reports Mike Frialde in The Philippine Star.

The report noted: “The MMDA recorded an average fatal accident rate of 1.13 per day in the metropolis. May 2013 had the most number of fatal road accidents at 41 while the least number of fatal road accidents — 23 — was recorded in October.”

The number of fatal road accidents in Metro Manila’s 17 areas in 2013 are as follows:

1. Quezon City – 141
2. Manila – 56
3. Caloocan – 37
4. Parañaque -25
5. Taguig – 25
6. Makati – 23
7. Valenzuela – 18
8. Marikina – 17
9. Pasay – 15
10. Muntinlupa – 13
11. Pasig – 13
12. Las Piñas – 9
13. Mandaluyong – 8
14. Malabon – 4
15. Navotas – 6
16. San Juan – 1
17. Pateros – 0
