Mind you, that staggering number is just from three cities.
“According to Francis Martinez, chief of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Metro Parkway Clearing Group, it took 42 dump trucks to haul 216 metric tons of trash from Balintawak and Commonwealth Avenue, both in Quezon City; Baclaran in Paranaque City; and Quiapo in Manila,” reports Rio N. Araja in Manila Standard Today.
That’s 216,000 kilograms, roughly 1,800 people who weigh 120kg each.
The report revealed that the haul was just for the New Year revelry. The MMDA had likewise reported massive trash dumps during the Christmas break.
