The Metro Manila Development Authority opened the Southwest Integrated Terminal in Paranaque City, where buses from Batangas and Cavite are required to drop passengers off, on Tuesday.
According to Pilipino Star Ngayon, the new system was met with complaints from commuters who had to transfer buses to get into Metro Manila. The bus terminal stands on what used to be the Coastal Mall and MMDA hopes it will help ease traffic in the metro.
MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino said the new terminal will help keep unauthorized buses off Metro Manila’s roads and will help keep commuters safe. The terminal, which can accomodate 955 buses a day, is guarded by police and is equipped with CCTV cameras.
MMDA will also open terminals at Trinoma Mall in Quezon City for buses coming from Northern Luzon and in Alabang for those coming from Southern Luzon, the report said.
