The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Thu, Mar 12, announced the four cleanest barangays in the metro for 2014.
“The search for the cleanest barangays is part of the Barangay Power project, which aims to motivate all barangays in Metro Manila to implement the provisions of the Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000,” reports Mike Frialde on Philstar.com.
For the search, the MMDA divided the barangays into four categories:
1. Category A for barangays with big income and area
2. Category B for middle income and middle-size area
3. Category C for small income/small area
4. Category D for village-barangays.
The following barangays were named the winners:
CATEGORY A: Barangay Holy Spirit in Quezon City
CATEGORY B: Barangay Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City
CATEGORY C: Barangay New Zaniga in Mandaluyong City
CATEGORY D: Barangay Blue Ridge B in Quezon City
The report noted: “MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino said each of the four winning barangays received PHP1 million worth of livelihood showcases after emerging as the cleanest among the Metro’s 1,706 barangays.”
