Here’s another way to get through Metro Manila traffic.

“The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Monday, May 18, launched Friend Trip, a mobile application that allows carpooling among Facebook friends or those living in the same area,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com.

MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino said that Friend Trip “is another addition to the MMDA’s many innovative solutions to minimize traffic congestion and pollution problems.”

The report noted: “Mobile users can avail of the app by signing up via Facebook and entering their phone numbers. The app finds who among their friends are already using the app. From there, they can choose between being a driver or a rider. It only recognizes one’s Facebook friends so that he never has to ride with strangers.”

Moreover, Friend Trip also gives an option to users to have the MMDA record all their trips.

Tolentino added that the app is now available to Android users and will soon be available to Apple users as well.
