If you don’t follow rules, you’re going to pay for it.
“For refusing to use the Southwest Integrated Provincial Terminal in Parañaque City, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has impounded 30 Cavite-bound public utility buses (PUBs),” reports Ritchie Horario in The Manila Times.
Apart from impounding their buses, said offenders will be fined PHP6,000. The buses were brought to MMDA impounding area in Tumana, Marikina City where they will be stored for three months.
According to MMDA Assistant General Manager for Operations Emerson Carlos, the said buses were impounded after a series of operations conducted in Baclaran area since January 7. They were intercepted along Roxas Boulevard even when it’s been ruled that they should not ply beyond the Southwest Integrated Provincial Terminal.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) had issued special permits to allow PUBs to ply popular routes to the provinces only during the holiday season but their permits expired on January 6.
