The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is gearing up for an international meeting it will hold next month to tackle several infectious diseases in Asia that were seemingly on the outbreak in recent years as well as developments on how to prevent them.

“Dr. Loida Labao, head of the Metropolitan Manila Development (MMDA) health public safety and environmental protection, said the agency will be hosting the 9th Annual Conference of the Asian Network of Major Cities (ANMC) 21 at the Dusit Hotel in Makati City from Feb 4 to 6,” reports Anna Liza Villas-Alavaren in the Manila Bulletin.

Health professionals, medical associations, medical researchers, and city officials of the 13-member-cities of ANMC 21 will focus more on five infectious diseases: Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB), HIV/AIDS, Dengue, Leptospirosis, and Pandemic Influenza.
