When will people ever learn?
In the wake of Typhoon Butchoy, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) collected at least 12 truckloads of garbage along the seawall stretch of Roxas Boulevard.
“Francis Martinez, chief of the MMDA Metro Parkway Clearing Group, revealed that the garbage hauled weighed 72 tons. Some 120 personnel of the agency worked from Sat, Jul 9, to Mon, Jul 11, to take away the debris consisting mostly of plastic waste, Styrofoam, and pieces of wood coming from broken fish ponds,” reports Clara Masinag on InterAksyon.com.
Carlos explained that the garbage will be brought to Pier 18. They will then be loaded into barges bound for the MMDA’s dumpsite in Tanza, Navotas.
