MMDA girds loins for flood season

Flooding is inevitable in Manila. It’s something city dwellers and government officials have become accustomed to year in and year out.  The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has started its preparation for the rainy season by cleaning up La Concordia Creek in Paco, Manila on Tuesday.

According to ABS CBN News, La Concordia Creek is said  to be one of the dirtiest waterways in Metro Manila. MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino led the clean along with 300 members of the MMDA and several pieces of heavy equipment.

The MMDA will focus on cleaning up strategic waterways in Metro Manila over the next three weeks. The metropolis  reportedly has 273 creeks and tributaries.
