MMDA fires 2 traffic enforcers for extortion

We hope they get them all.

“On Monday, June 9, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis Tolentino ordered the immediate dismissal from the service of the two traffic constables, assigned along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City, for being involved in extorting from motorists after several months of hearing by the agency’s legal department,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com.

However, Tolentino withheld the names of the traffic constables “for privacy reasons.” The two are said to be “on job order status,” meaning they were not yet permanent employees.

Tolentino also revealed that seven more traffic constables were charged with grave misconduct and have been placed on preventive suspension for 90 days for allegedly being involved in extortion.

The seven constables are Rommel Millanes, Larry Tibos, Romeo Rabaya, Ariel Merin, Elmer Santos, Marlo Gateos, and Cesar Aguilar, who are all on permanent employment status. They may get terminated if proven guilty of the charges filed against them.
