It’s a wee bit harsh, but it makes sense.
“Rogelio Anonuevo Jr., who reports to The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) flood-control unit, was suspended for five days after he was caught making an illegal U-turn while driving an MMDA truck at an intersection on Julia Vargas Avenue in Bagong Ilog, Pasig City last May 20,” reports Niña P. Calleja in Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Anonuevo’s suspension started on May 22. He was also given a traffic citation ticket.
Anonuevo’s unit head, Engineer Emma Quiambao, as quoted as saying, “This is the first time an employee of our unit was caught violating traffic rules, and we will never tolerate it.”
In this case, “never” sounds so good.
