MMDA donates boats to Samar

You have to hand it to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for staying committed to the post-Yolanda recovery efforts.

“On Monday, Jan 20, the MMDA donated 10 motorized bancas for the fishermen of Sulat, Eastern Samar,” reports Mike Frialde on Philstar.com. The MMDA has aims to donate a total of 50 fishing boats to Sulat.

MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino explained that each of the bancas is equipped with a motor, lamps and fishing nets. The bancas will be transported by land from Metro Manila along with relief items from Cavite by 18 MMDA personnel. Tolentino said the boats and the goods are expected to reach Sulat by Wednesday, Jan 22.

The report added: “Aside from Sulat, the MMDA also adopted Coron, Palawan. The MMDA has likewise pledged to rebuild Coron’s public markets.”
