MMDA comes up with road accidents alerts app

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that on Fri, Oct 17, they will launch a new application for Android phones.

The app will update motorists on road accidents along major thoroughfares in the metropolis.

“MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino explained that the MMDA Accident Alerts Application will provide reliable information through the Internet dedicated initially to road vehicular accidents,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com.

The users of the MMDA Accident Alerts app can see road accidents based on the MMDA Traffic Navigator set-up and will be updated hourly.

Tolentino said “the system will rely primarily on the CCTV cameras of MMDA as well as reports sent in by traffic enforcers and field personnel particularly in areas where there are no surveillance cameras.”

Tolentino said the flooding and road reblockings notifications will also be included in the app in the future. They will also be coming up with a version of the app for the iOs platform soon.
