Another government official will soon resign and run for higher office.
“On Tuesday, September 29, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis Tolentino formally announced his 2016 senatorial bid on Tuesday afternoon,” reports CNN Philippines.
Tolentino made the announcement at a restaurant in Manila. In attendance were politician from Cavite such as Gov. Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla, Vice Gov. Jolo Revilla, and Rep. Lani Mercado.
Tolentino was quoted as saying, “With that I accept the challenge, with that I accept your endorsement, and hereby declare my candidacy for senator.”
The report recalled that “prior to becoming chief of the MMDA, Tolentino was mayor of Tagaytay City in the province of Cavite for nine years.”
Tolentino is expected to step down from his MMDA post in the coming days.
