Motorists will have to endure a more terrible traffic ahead with the delayed construction of three big-ticket projects in Metro Manila.
MMDA chair Francis Tolentino said the project contractor DMCI Holdings, Inc. confirmed in a meeting a delay in the scheduled completion of the NAIA Elevated Expressway, Skyway Stage 3 and LRT 2 Masinag extension, citing hindrances such as underground utilities, power lines and right of way as reasons.
“It just goes to show that while we are expecting these big-ticket items to be completed and hopefully alleviate the existing congestion, we will still suffer the same fate of congestion while the construction is ongoing,” Tolentino said in an interview on ANC’s Headstart.
Tolentino said the projects are expected to ease up metro traffic as the volume of cars continues to increase, citing a comparison between the 23.8-kilometer EDSA where around 360,000 vehicles ply daily to Canada’s 817.9-kilometer Highway 401 where around 400,000 vehicles pass through.
