MMDA braces for transport strike

FYI: There’s a transport strike on Thursday, June 19.

“The Stop and Go Coalition, an umbrella organization of several transport operators, said it has 14,000 members who are expected to participate in what they called ‘voluntary’ transport protests,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com.

The report said that “the transport caravan will assemble at the Quezon City Memorial Circle before proceeding to the offices of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board along East Avenue and the Department of Transportation and Communications in Pasig City.”

For it’s part, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will mobilize its traffic personnel to help ensure peace and order, as well as help motorists and commuters who would be affected by the protests.

The MMDA will also be offering their Libreng Sakay vehicles to serve the commuters who may be stranded.
