MMDA asks DPWH to postpone Sucat Interchange rehab

Not so fast, said the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

“The Sucat Interchange Bridge will remain open this weekend after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) postponed the repair of the structure, which is tagged as a PHP36.1-million project,” report Evelyn Macairan, Mike Frialde, and Perseus Echeminada in The Philippine Star.

The DPWH was scheduled to close the eastbound lane of the bridge on Saturday, August 2. However, the MMDA asked the DPWH not to push through with the repair of the bridge.

The report noted that “MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said work on the interchange bridge could worsen traffic in the area caused by the ongoing construction of the Skyway Stage 3.”

The DPWH will hold a meeting with the MMDA and other stakeholders before they decide when the Sucat Interchange Bridge rehab would be done.
