As expected, the government-owned TV network, PTV-4, covered the inauguration of Vice President Leni Robredo.
On its official Twitter page, PTV-4 also shared a two-part infographic titled, “Vice Presidency by the Numbers.”
The first part of the infographic series noted that Robredo is the second widow elected as VP. A “widow” is defined as “a woman who has lost her spouse by death and has not remarried.”
Upon checking the list of VPs that the Philippines has had, the only other woman is Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who served as VP under President Joseph “Erap” Estrada before she went on to be President.
However, as far as we know, Arroyo’s husband, Mike Arroyo, is still very much alive.
The source of the infographic is cited as Gov.ph, meaning it’s from the Palace. We tweeted PTV-4 about this matter but have not gotten an answer yet as of this posting.
