Since 2011, Metro Manila Missed Connections has been an avenue to pursue could-have-beens.
As the tumblog’s FAQ explains, missed connections are “just that: a connection you made with someone in the city that you weren’t able to follow through. You might have held a door open for someone, lent someone a piso for jeepney fare, or simply locked eyes with a pretty stranger as she slipped into the ladies’ section of the train. Maybe that cute girl walking her dog through the subdivision, or that sweet dude on campus who’s always got his nose in a book. This is where you go to find them.”
Submissions have ranged from sweet and dreamy notes to stalkery missives to a cathartic fuck you to a classmate in ballet class from 15 years ago. They were mostly just shout outs into the ether, though.
Until today:

That was in reaction to this missed connection submission:

Crib notes in case you’re lost: M4M is male looking for a male, Shirley is Ang Bandang Shirley, and it all happened at an Attraction! Reaction! gig at Route 196. Stickier things like “what happens next?” and “what does this mean?” are best left to Jeff and his anonymous friend, but if nothing else, this proves that the Internet is not the cold wasteland that it sometimes seems.
To help you imagine what that night might have felt like, here’s an Ang Bandang Shirley video:
