At the Thursday, Feb 13, Senate hearing with the latest pork barrel scam whistleblower Ruby Tuason in attendance, Senator Miriam Santiago was the first to ask questions. *Before the hearing began, Santiago had wondered why there were a lot of senators absent. “For this (hearing), I rose from my deathbed,” she quipped.
Later, Santiago reminded Tuason, “If you decide to tell the whole truth, then I am your friend.” Shen then complimented her, saying, “You’re a competent witness. You can perceive. you’re not sufferign from dementia, unlike other people I know.”
Then, perhaps, to further encourage Tuason to tell the truth, Santiago said, “Since you are testifying in fear of death, what you’re saying now can be considered as dying declarations.”
Santiago went on to ask Tuason about other people who were also involved in the pork barrel scam such as, of course, Senator Juan Ponce Enrile and his former chief of staff, Atty. Gigi Reyes. *In any case, the first part of the Santiago-Tuason encounter was mostly the former’s “show.” For some people, that’s more than enough.
As the hearing heats up, people are hoping that Tuason eventually unleashes some definite statements about the people who’ve been robbing this country blind.
