Mind you, she herself isn’t part of the list.
“After suggesting that Pinoys elect a female president in 2016, Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago was asked by reporters on Wednesday, Mar 12, whom she thought would be an ideal female candidate,” reports Macon Ramos-Araneta in Manila Standard Today.
“Cynthia Villar, and she has the money, remember that; Grace Poe because she was Number 1 in last election; Pia Cayetano, although her brother (Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano) said he’s running and pre-empted her; or finally, Loren Legarda,” Santiago revealed.
When reporters asked why she herself wasn’t running for president in 2016, she explained that, for starters, her health prevents her from doing so. She’s been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. “I’m supposed to report at the International Criminal Court. As you can see, I can’t even finish my present functions as a member of the Commission on Appointments. Someone else has to report the results of the hearing, because I’m so tired,” she said.
She also pointed out that, she “doesn’t have a conservative estimate of PHP1 billion to PHP2 billion to run in the highest position of the land.” She quipped, “I was not a member of the pork barrel scam so I don’t have this amount. I never sold my body to have this amount.”
