The fact that it was tagged as a “hotel” is some kind of disturbing.
“Anti-human trafficking agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have raided a motel in Pasay City, where underage women are allegedly being peddled to guests for PHP1,200 to PHP1,500,” reports Leonard Postrado in Manila Bulletin.
The raid was done after the NBI got complaints from concerned citizens who saw young girls being offered for sex.
The report noted: “Members of the NBI–Anti-Human Trafficking Division (NBI-AHTRAD) swooped down on Marina Hotel in Pasay City on Monday evening, September 22, and rescued seven females, five of whom were believed to be minors.”
Three alleged pimps were also arrested: Maureen Carlos, Nicole Etera, and Rechie Ancuna.
According to NBI-AHTRAD Special Investigator Dodjie Durian, the rescued women and minors were placed in the care of social workers.
