Six drug dealers were killed in separate locations around Metro Manila in just one night, according to ABS-CBN News.
According to the police, five suspects — who were all involved in a buy-bust operation by the local police — resisted arrest and threatened the lives of the officers.
In Tondo, Manila, a police asset bought PHP300 worth of shabu (methamphetamine) from Alexander Cuyugan and a man called Jeje Reyes.
According to the police, one of the suspects pulled out a gun, which prompted the authorities to open fire.
Both Cuyugan and Reyes were killed. Authorities recovered packets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and a .38 calibre pistol from the two slain suspects.
Another alleged drug pusher was killed in Sta. Ana, Manila that same night.
Ryan Eder, a.k.a. “Buwaya.” was killed inside his home when he reportedly resisted arrest after selling shabu to a police asset. Authorities also recovered illegal drugs and Eder’s supposed gun.
Meanwhile, two unidentified men were killed in a shootout with the police in Caloocan City, when authorities responded to a 911 call about a suspicious “riding-in-tandem” roaming the neighborhood.
When the police asked the tandem to pull over, it sped away and initiated the shootout. Two guns and four sachets of shabu were recovered from the suspects. The report didn’t specify if the slain men were drug dealers or users.
Finally, in Quezon City, an alleged drug dealer named Bryan Francisco was shot and killed in Barangay (village) Holy Spirit by an unidentified assailant.
These six men are just a small portion of President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs, which has claimed nearly 2,000 lives within his first 50 days in office.
