Meralco halts Ginebra run; Talk N Text outplays Globalport

Like David and Goliath, the Meralco Bolts zapped the streaking Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings.

“Jared Dillinger scored 25 points, had 10 rebounds and Meralco coach Ryan Gregorio was able to squeeze the best out of Rabeh Al-Hussaini so far in a 100-87 upset of the Gin Kings in the PLDT MyDSL PBA Philippine Cup at Mall of Asia Arena,” reports Musong Castillo on Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The Gin Kings, with towering Japeth Aguilar and Greg Slaughter boosting its frontline, had the obvious height advantage over the Bolts, but Meralco rallied behind Jared Dillinger and Rabah Al-Hussaini.

Dillinger held down Aguilar in the block, while Al-Hussaini played the game of his pro career by giving the Bolts 14 points and 16 boards.

In the first game, Talk N Text looked on target to capture its fourth straight title as it dispatched the young Globalport side, 106-93.

Larry Fonacier shot the lights out, chalking up 18 points, while veteran guard Danny Seigle suited up for the Texters for the first time after being traded to the team. He scored 13 points and grabbed seven boards in 18 minutes.
