Let’s get to know the new Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) chief.

“Secretary Mar Roxas will turn over the reins of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to Western Samar Representative Mel Senen Sarmiento on Friday, September 11,” reports Trisha Macas on GMA News Online.

Roxas’ announcement came after President Benigno Aquino III had also revealed in a news forum that he has picked Sarmiento to replace Roxas.

“Inaasahan namin na Biyernes ng hapon ay magtu-turn over kami. Para sa Lunes ang kauna-unahang flag raising niya bilang secretary ng DILG (We expect to have turnover ceremonies on Friday afternoon. So, on Monday he’ll attend his first flag raising ceremony as DILG Secretary),” Roxas said.

Roxas added that “Sarmiento let go of his plans to run for a re-election in 2016 to serve as the new DILG head.”
