Meet the new Commission on Human Rights boss: Jose Luis Martin ‘Chito’ Gascon

He replaces former Akbayan Party-list representative Loretta Ann “Etta” Rosales, who retired last month.

“Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte announced on Thursday, June 18, the appointment of Jose Luis Martin ‘Chito’ Gascon as new chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR),” reports Alex Ho on CNN Philippines.

The report noted: “Gascon is a member of the ruling Liberal Party (LP) and had previously served the Aquino government as undersecretary of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs, among others.”

Three new CHR members were also appointed: Karen Dumpit, Gwendolyn Pimentel-Gana, and Leah Tandora-Armamento.
