How would you like to see a politician’s face right beside yours on your ID?

“People in Pililia, Rizal are complaining about senior citizen cards being issued in their city, saying their mayor has gone too far by placing his photo on the cards for the elderly,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

The irate citizens sent images of senior citizen cards showing the smiling face of Mayor Leandro Masikip right next to the card-bearer’s picture, and the mayor’s photo is bigger than the senior citizen’s.

The report noted: “The Commission on Audit (COA) said that as per Circular 2013-004 issued by their office, placing a politician’s picture on any project that uses public funds is unnecessary and may result in administrative charges being filed against violators.”

However, a representative of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) National Coordinating and Monitoring Board, which oversees the format of senior citizen cards, said that “having the mayor’s picture on it is not illegal.”
