Mayor Junjun Binay slams Trillanes

What’s their drama?

“Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin ‘Junjun’ Binay recently hit back at Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and dared him to apologize if allegations that a parking building was overpriced are not proven by the Senate Blue Ribbon committee in its hearing next week,” reports Mike Frialde in The Philippine Star.

The report noted that “Trillanes had earlier filed a resolution seeking an inquiry into reports that the city government paid PHP2.4 billion for a building that should have cost only PHP798.2 million, making it overpriced by P1.6 billion.”

Binay remarked, “Based on (Trillanes’) statements, he has made up his mind and he intends to use the Senate hearing as a platform to malign the name of the Vice President. When the facts come out and when the allegations are proven wrong, we ask nothing in return but a public apology from the senator who authored the probe and from the committee for allowing itself to be used as a venue for character assassination and political demolition.”
