In 2012, toy manufacturer Mattel produced its first Filipina Barbie: the Philippines Barbie, which was part of its “Dolls of the World” line. This year, Mattel is presenting the Mutya Barbie.
“A write-up on BarbieCollector.com says that the doll, which is designed by Carlyle Nuera, will be sold as a limited edition item. Only 4,400 Mutya Barbie dolls will be made,” reports GMA News Online.
The description on BarbieCollector.com reads: “She wears a long gown under a sheer overdress printed with a tribal motif and a sun icon from the Philippine flag. Further embellished with an embroidered floral design of the Philippines’ national flower, the sampaguita, the overdress is a lovely tribute. Accessories include golden-tone earrings, necklace, bracelet and a golden lace fabric fan,” read the description on the site.”
The doll is packaged with her shoes, earrings, a necklace with pendant and medallion, bracelet, fan, and a doll stand.
BarbieCollector.com is selling the doll for US$100.
