Maria Kristina “Christine” Sergio turned herself in at the Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office at 10:30am Tuesday morning, saying her life is in danger.

Escorted by her live-in partner Julius Nacalinao, Sergio said Veloso’s relatives could harm her if the execution goes ahead.

Veloso is set to be executed at 5pm today (Indonesia time). In 2010, she was caught with 2.6 kilograms of heroin at the Yogyakarta Airport in Indonesia, for which she received the death penalty.

While Sergio maintains her innocence, on Monday, the National Bureau of Investigation filed a complaint for illegal recruitment, human trafficking, and estafa against her and Nacalinao.

In a recent interview, she denied she was a member of a drug syndicate, refuted Veloso’s claims, and tearfully pleaded to the public to spare her from judgment.

According to Inquirer.net, “The Department of Justice has set the preliminary investigation on Sergio and Nacliano on May 8 and 14.”
