Married couple in their 50s finish high school together at Bugo National High School in Cagayan de Oro City

A Bandila report featured a couple in their 50s who were determined to continue their education even if they seemed to be older than the rest of their classmates.

Tricycle driver Adam Lavictoria, 51, and his wife, Rebecca, 55, were among this year’s graduates of Bugo National High School (BNHS) in Cagayan de Oro City.

The Lavictorias are among the 11 students who graduated from the BNHS “open school” program, which is geared for students with special circumstances. Rebecca said in the local dialect, “We really did our best. We really believe that education is the key to success.”

For his part, Adam said, “We’re proud of this achievement.”

The couple’s daughter, Anna May Lavictoria, proudly related, “My mother really encouraged my father so they can both graduate.”

The report said Adam wants to study to be an electrician, while Rebecca says she wants to eventually become a lawyer.
