Senator Lito Lapid’s son, Mark Lapid, revealed that he plans to run for the Senate next year.
Mark, who had served as governor of Pampanga, currently serves as the manager and chief operating officer of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).
“I will be resigning by the end of September as I am trying to wrap up my commitment for the APEC summit,” the younger Lapid stated, referring to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in November that Manila will host.
“He added that he is just waiting for the Liberal Party (LP) to announce that he would be one of its senatorial candidates,” reports Celso Amo in The Philippine Star.
He likewise pointed out that he was “included in a shortlist of candidates that the LP showed to the media.”
The former Pampanga governor was the guest speaker in recent the 7th Tripartite Conference for Cooperative Development at the Oriental Hotel in Legazpi City. In his speech, he had said: “We Lapids are for the masses. My father is for the masses and we are fighting for them up to now.”
