Marikina turns over manual on disaster preparedness

Marikina’s Barangay Tumana recently turned over its manual on disaster-risk management to Smart Communications, Inc.The barangay is one of the most flood-prone areas in Marikina City but due to its disaster preparedness protocols helped it avoid any casualties during the Typhoon Habagat of 2012.

The barangay adopted a community-based disaster preparedness program called “Noah’s Ark” and with the release of the manual, it has stamped itself as a showcase and model for other communities to emulate, the Business Mirror reported.
