“At least 10,259 people fled their homes after the Marikina River’s water level rose significantly on Friday morning,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
According to the Marikina City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said at least 9 evacuation centers have been set up to cater to the affected residents.
Alert level 4 was raised over communities living along the river as the water level breached the 19-meter mark. The Marikina City Public Information Office (PIO) revealed that as of 9:30am on Friday, September 19, the river’s water level was already at 19.7 meters.
Under alert level 4, forced evacuation is implemented.
