Hell, yeah!
“Manila City councilors are mulling on increasing the penalty for violations of the anti-littering policy to encourage residents to be mindful of their trash,” reports Jenny Manongdo in Manila Bulletin.
Under proposed ordinance amending the anti-littering measures of Manila, the penalty for the first offense will be raised from PHP20 to PHP200; PHP350 for second offense; and PHP500 for the third and succeeding offenses.
Moreover, the ordinance dictates that “violators may be jailed from two to five days or serve community service depending upon the discretion of the court.”
We still can’t get over the fact that the previous penalty for littering was just PHP20!
