Maybe the Sudanese guy got confused by our “inconsistent” enforcement of traffic rules. Then again, that doesn’t give him the right to hurt someone.
“A 23-year-old Sudanese student pilot named Amro Aboud Hassan Eitayeb who was caught jaywalking along a portion of Roxas Boulevard was arrested Tuesday afternoon, December 30, for allegedly resisting arrest and spitting on Vice Mayor Isko Moreno in Manila,” reports GMA News Online.
According to Moreno, the foreigner tried to elbow him and later, even spit on him when the former was accosted for jaywalking. Moreno has been with the group tasked to crack down on jaywalkers.
“He crossed the street while the traffic light was green for vehicles. He questioned the fact that he was being arrested. When we took him aside, he hit me with his elbow. Then, when we were going to bring him to the police precinct, he spit on my back. He’s a big guy so he can fight back. We can’t allow this,” Isko explained in Filipino.
Eitayeb was eventually brought to the Manila Police District’s General Assignments Section.
