“Manila traffic officials have begun implementing a color-coding system to organize the tricycles plying the city’s streets,” reports Jenny F. Manongdo in Manila Bulletin.
The following colors have been designated to each of the city’s districts:
District 1 – blue
District 2 – white
District 3 – emerald green
District 4 – orange
District 5 – yellow
District 6 – red
Private tricycles – gray
The report said the colors are also applicable to pedicabs and kuligligs (motorized pedicabs).
Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) Director Carter Logica disclosed, “We are asking all tricycle and pedicab owners to register at the Manila Tricycle Regulatory Office (MTRO). Before they go to the MTRO, they should already have their tricycle or pedicab colored and they should be a part of any Tricycle Operator and Driver Association (TODA).”
The report noted: “Since Monday, June 2, Manila has also implemented the ban on tricycles, pedicabs and kuligligs from other cities that are using Manila roads to transport passengers for income.”
Our comment: Talagang “emerald green” for District 3?! How come the other districts’ colors didn’t get more specifications?
