Manila police have been stepping up operations against criminals on motorcycles, with at least 20 bikers held by the police district’s Anti-Carnapping unit early Wednesday.
Riders who were not wearing helmets or failed to show their driver’s licenses were brought to the Manila Police District headquarters, a GMA News Online report said.
Chief Inspector Rosalindo Ibay, head of MPD ANCAR, said police want to make sure the motorcycles aren’t used in crimes.
He said the drive against criminals on motorcycles is part of preparations for when the new school year starts on June 3.
