A government official said earlier today that another employee of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation has died from the fire that razed a portion of the Waterfront Manila Pavilion last Sunday.

The victim was identified as Jennilyn Figueroa. She was earlier reported to have only been hurt in the blaze that lasted two days, but eventually died from her critical injuries.

This brings the death toll from the two-day fire to six.

Carmelita Valdez, a spokesperson for the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), told reporters about Figueroa’s death in a press conference earlier today.

Figueroa, 28, was an internal security staff at the Casino Filipino Pavilion.

According to the preliminary findings of fire investigators, the blaze started in an area where welding was being conducted.

The Department of Justice has ordered an investigation to determine which parties should be held liable for the fire.
