Fridays, especially “payday Fridays,” are typically the busiest commuting days of the month in Metro Manila.

But today’s “payday Friday” didn’t start off too well when two Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) trains broke down this morning.

First at 6:28 a.m. on the southbound side of GMA-Kamuning station in Quezon City and again an hour later at Shaw Blvd. in Mandaluyong City. Passengers were offloaded at both stations.

According to an Inquirer.net report, the incident brought down the available running trains to 17 as of 7am instead of the usual 20 during peak hours.

This week alone, the MRT-3 has broken down 12 times and they all happened during the morning rush hour.

While the MRT-3 management has apologized to commuters for the inconvenience, what we want to know is, when will the trains stop breaking down?
