Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, whose term ends on June 30, has accepted defeat and wishes the city’s incoming administration the best.
“We respect and acknowledge the said proclamation and wish them all the best,” Lim said in a Sun Star Online report. This was a far cry from the fighting words traded by the candidates before the elections Monday.
Lim and his runningmate Lou Veloso lost to Manila mayor-elect Joseph Estrada and vice mayor-elect Isko Moreno, with the Commission on Elections proclaiming the victory Tuesday.
Estrada promised to address peace and order, congestion, and the city’s lack of business investments. He said he would bring back the capital’s former glory.
