Manila’s determined to ease traffic congestion—and some of the solutions may encounter a lot of controversy.
“After a ban on buses and trucks, the local government of Manila is considering imposing similar restrictions on public utility vehicles (PUVs) such as jeepneys and UV Express units,” reports ANC.
“We’re going to attend to 14,000 jeepneys and 4,500 UV Express (units),” Vice Mayor Isko Moreno said in an interview on ANC. By this, he meant that the city would now be stricter when it comes to granting these vehicles franchises. That’s just for starters.
Meanwhile, as the report put it, “Moreno said there’s no stopping in the city’s truck ban which is scheduled to take effect on February 24.”
