Manila goes for daytime truck ban

Let’s hope this helps ease Manila’s traffic woes.

“Starting Monday next week, Feb 10, eight-wheeler trucks will be banned from traveling in the city of Manila from 5am to 9pm,” reports Jose Rodel Clapano in The Philippine Star.

This is by virtue of Mayor Joseph Estrada signing Ordinance 7570, which amends Ordinance 8092 or the city’s Traffic Management Code.

Violators of the daytime truck ban will be fined PHP5,000 and will have their vehicles impounded.

However, according to Vice Mayor Isko Moreno, trucks carrying perishable goods and aviation fuel will be exempt from the truck ban.
