Manila cop helps store helper fake hold up

A store helper allegedly conspired with a Manila Police District officer and another civilian to steal P200,000 from a Bangladeshi business owner in Paco.

People’s Journal reports Joel Panancio, a helper at SR Fashion had been told by his boss Salim Miah to deposit P200,000 at a bank on May 15.
Panancio was gone for four hours and when he returned, he said he had been held up by a man with a knife while he was on the way to the bank.

Doubting Panancio’s story, Miah brought him to the Paco Police Community Precinct where it was found no robbery had been reported.

Panancio later admitted at the MPD-Theft and Robbery Section that he, Police Officer Reggie Dominguez, and a certain Jason Panaliza planned the theft.

He said they had picked him up and they divided the money at a motel.

Panancio faces a charge of qualified theft while police are still looking for his accomplices.
